Corey is an Executive Performance Coach and an Organizational Leadership consultant. He works with organizations and leaders to enhance their leadership style, emotional intelligence, personal branding, communication skills, and their ability to motivate others and drive their organizations. He has served as a pioneer in the field of emotional intelligence, mindset and performance, and speaks across the mainland and abroad on topics related to leadership, mental fitness, personal well-being, and workplace engagement.
He is the CEO & Founder of Akamai Training & Consulting, a Honolulu-based company helping organizations since 2015 to enhance their culture and instill a strong foundation of purpose, passion, and performance. He facilitates workshops that drive leaders and teams to be open, honest, and real, and embrace the tough conversations that foster genuine team unity and collaboration.
Corey is a Gallup Certified Coach and has used the StrengthsFinder assessment as a framework for leadership and personal growth with over 75 individuals in personal coaching. He has conducted StrengthsFinder workshops for a multitude of organizations, both for profit and non-profit, including Hawaiian Airlines (Consumer Affairs Division), Hawaii FoodService Alliance, The Shidler Group, ‘Alohilani Resort, Waikiki Beach, Hospice Hawaii (currently Navian Hawaii), Make-A-Wish Hawaii, The Ritz-Carlton-Waikiki Residences, The Hilton Garden Inn, After-School All-Stars Hawaii, the Waikiki Community Center, and Woodlands Elementary School (Washington State).
He wakes up excited every day to pursue his purpose: ignite the soul of every person he touches to live an energized, engaged, and inspired life. His core belief is that with the right self-awareness and creation of good habits, we all have the power to achieve extraordinary results in our personal and professional lives.
He is very active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for After-School All-Stars Hawai‘i, Leaders for Hawai‘i’s Future, the Waikiki Community Center, the Make-A-Wish Hawai‘i Young Leader’s Executive Board and is an alumnus of the Pacific Century Fellows Program (2018). He graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech and is a Certified Facilitator of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment, Gallup’s CliftonStrengths, and Tracom’s Social Styles & Versatility.

Complex Director of Training for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Waikiki (2012-2015), where he led the Leadership Development and Service Strategy for 3000+ employees and managers within Starwood’s four premier destination resorts (Sheraton Waikiki, Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Westin Moana Surfrider, and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani) and achieved industry highs in employee engagement and customer service scores.
