Eric Lau is the founder and CEO of Leadership Edge, a leadership development organisation that specialises in empowering and maximising the impact of leaders in driving business goals. His wide experience in leadership development and strategic brand building in multinational companies has gained him keen insights into the fast-paced demands and changes of organisations today. Eric is a strategic leader with a relentless belief in people. His personal mission is to inspire and influence others to rise up to their full potential and calling by using their strengths. He regularly leads training, coaching and consulting initiatives in the areas of leadership and management for Fortune 500 MNCs and Malaysian Government-linked Companies (GLC) like Petronas, Perodua, Malakoff, ACS, Kimberly Clark, Philips, Maybank, The Star, Microsoft, Loreal, Mercedes-Benz, Unilever and Nestle.
Eric has extensive experience working with multinational organisations like Pepsi and Unilever. At Pepsi, he was part of the core team that spearheaded many creative and successful business campaigns as well as innovative products like Pepsi Twist, the Britney Spears Campaign as well as the Manchester United Campaign in 2001.
While at Unilever Malaysia in 2002, Eric was appointed as lead brand custodian for Lipton, Unilever’s largest worldwide food brand. In a food category that had experienced stagnant growth for many years, Eric’s leadership drove a staggering 30% value growth within one year. His marketing campaigns were showcased around the world and gained recognition as “best practice case studies” for driving business growth. Eric also orchestrated the launch of Lipton Ice Tea in Malaysia. In addition to crafting the business plan and marketing strategies, he was responsible for developing the entire channel architecture to penetrate both retail and out-of-home segments. He later moved onto a regional role in Unilever, and was responsible for planning and executing a wide and comprehensive range of business activation campaigns for a portfolio of leading brands (Lipton, Knorr, Ladies Choice, Skippy and Planta) across Malaysia and Singapore.
Eric was also part of the worldwide training faculty of Dale Carnegie Training, one the world’s most renowned and largest training organisation where he regularly conducted training programmes in the areas of leadership, management, communications and human relations.
Eric has been interviewed over 50 times on Malaysia’s premier business radio station- BFM Radio, where he spoke on areas of personal development and leadership. He also wrote regularly for The Star newspaper on areas of leadership and management. Besides his corporate life, Eric heads up a non-profit body that actively reaches out to the developmental needs of the indigenous (orang asli) group in Raub, Malaysia. He is an avid reader and tries hard to play good golf. Eric resides in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and is happily married with two lovely teenagers.
