- Season 2, Ideation
- Learn what Ideation looks like when you use theme dynamics, and how it combines with and complements your other talent themes.
On this Theme Thursday Season 2 webcast, Jim Collison, Gallup's Director of Talent Sourcing, and Maika Leibbrandt, Gallup Advanced Learning and Development Consultant, discussed the theme of Ideation.
People with Ideation are fascinated with ideas. Their creativity can generate brand new, original notions. They can also see the connection between two existing things, when no one else can see it. It is a spontaneous creativity with a natural sense of innovation that defies conventional thinking.
Ideation is a popcorn popper of ideas. Are all the ideas good? Ideation's innovative approach to projects can be a valuable source of new ideas, but not every idea is accepted and Ideation alone does not put value or judgement on ideas. Raw ideation throws every idea out and sees what sticks, it can be overwhelming for others. Mature Ideation looks for fertile soil first and discerns which audience is open to new ideas. It is patient, understanding that not everyone creates at the speed they do - and that not everyone is comfortable with the "not yet proven." People with Ideation need to create a safe space for ideas, letting people know they are brainstorming versus making a decision.
