Voices of Gen Z: How American Youth View and Use Artificial Intelligence

The latest survey from the Walton Family Foundation, GSV Ventures and Gallup explores how Generation Z is using artificial intelligence in their everyday lives and thinking about its role in their future. The findings provide deeper insight into Gen Z's emotional reactions to AI, their desire for guidance, and the roles schools and workplaces play in shaping how they engage with this emerging technology.

Most Gen Zers report some AI usage, with almost half using AI tools weekly, but many feel anxious about the technology's impact and unsure about how and when to use it appropriately.

Students and young workers overwhelmingly say they want clear rules and support to help them use AI effectively. Yet many report that their schools and employers have not provided formal policies or direction, limiting both usage and confidence.
