For all students to have an excellent experience at school, it's crucial to hear from every student -- regardless of their family's or neighborhood's economic status.

These data come from the second annual survey, with the full 2024 findings to be released in the coming months. The study will further explore how young people aged 12 to 27 feel about themselves, their schools and their future possibilities.

Results are based on a Gallup Panel web survey conducted April 26-May 9, 2024, with a sample of 2,317 12- to 27-year-olds living in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The Gallup Panel is a probability-based panel of U.S. adults who are randomly selected using address-based sampling methodology. Gallup also recruits using random-digit-dial phone interviews that cover landlines and cellphones. Children were reached through adult members of the Gallup Panel who indicated they had at least one child 18 or younger living in their household.

Results for this scorecard are based on 2,317 responses from 12- to 18-year-olds currently enrolled in grades five through 12 at a public, charter, private or home school. For this sample of respondents, the margin of sampling error is ±2.3 percentage points at the 95% confidence level. All reported margins of sampling error include computed design effects for weighting.

In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls.

B- Students give their school a B- grade overall, unchanged from 2023.
20% of low-income students grade their school an A overall, compared with 31% of high-income students.
C+ Students give their school a C+ grade for helping them figure out what type of career they would like to have.
